Rolex 6234

 During the Spring of 1965, a distinguished American gentleman was spending his holidays in the Swiss mountains of Interlaken. He stopped in front of the windows of the prestigious Rolex retailer Bucherer's, and saw the coolest gold chronograph available in those days: Reference 6234 Oyster Chronograph in 18 kt. Gold. He had to have it! More than fifty years later this piece is still in the original condition, complete of it's original box, original guarantee and instructions, and all the mail correspondence between him and The American Rolex Watch Corporation.

The case is unpolished and has massive proportions, the perfect dial conserves that warm, creamy texture that makes you want to check time continuously! Tritium dots are perfect, as well as complete set of hands. Still bearing it's original strap and buckle.

I think that the Pre-Daytona scenario is still very under valued, and when a piece like this appears, it creates a benchmark for buyers seeking rarity, quality and uniqueness. To our knowledge this reference was produced between 1955 and 1961 in a couple of thousand examples in steel, a little more than a hundred in 14 kt. and less than forty in 18 kt.
